Solar Tsunamis Year 5 Annual Programme Meeting

Between 24-26 June 2025, Otago hosted the Solar Tsunamis project team’s final annual programme meeting. All the details of the meeting are available on our Meetings page.

From the Sciences at University of Otago Facebook page:

The Solar Tsunamis programme is led by Physics Professor Craig Rodger (in front row at left – always known for his fantastic shirts) and is globally unique thanks to the willingness of its industry partners to share data about infrastructure vulnerable to the effects of space weather

Attendees included researchers and collaborators from Canterbury University, Victoria University of Wellington Te Herenga Waka, GNS Science, British Antarctic Survey, British Geological Survey, and the University of Northumbria. Also attending were representatives from industry partner Transpower, funder MBIE and the outreach team from Tūhura Otago Museum.

New Zealand is already seeing the benefits of project’s mahi through improved strategies to mitigate Space Weather hazards, and more advances are on the way
