On Wednesday 15 October, Craig Rodger and Daniel Mac Manus visited the National Crisis Management Centre, aka “The Bunker”, to attend the NEMA Science Advisory Panel Operational Readiness Forum. This event was a training opportunity for members of the NEMA hosted Science Advisory Panels to support increased awareness and understanding of the decision-making needs, structures, roles, and responsibilities that the Science Advisory Panels contribute to. From NEMA’s description of the event:
This is part of ongoing efforts to formalise and systematise science advice to Emergency Management at a ‘system-level’. The secondary objective is to support developing a community of practice – by meeting in-person, sharing experiences across the various panels, and ‘enjoying’ the unique experience of being in the NCMC!
