Daniel’s trip to the US

In April, Dr. Daniel Mac Manus gave an invited talk in Boulder (CO, USA) as part of the session “Managing Space Weather Risks to the Bulk Electric System” of the 2026 US Space Weather Workshop. Daniel was speaking jointly with Chris Taylor of Transpower NZ on our Solar Tsunamis work, and the NZ efforts to prepare and response to extreme space weather.

Following the workshop, Daniel was invited to the “Shared Solar Risk, Shared Resilience: A Five Eyes Power System Workshop” hosted at the British Embassy in Washington D.C. This consisted of Government, Industry, and Science representatives from the Five Eyes countries participating in a two day technical workshop focused on strengthening power system resilience to space weather. The event provided a valuable opportunity to discuss the priorities and issues around space weather from the perspective of each Five Eyes country and how we can work together to progress them.
